Family business with over 15 years of experience on the fjord
The sailing ships Legend and Vega have a long tradition of chartering. But the over 100-year-old ships are also a piece of important maritime history.
Hello, and thank you for stopping by! We at Vega Sailing are a small family business with a big heart for sailing ships and maritime craftsmanship. For the past 15 years we have specialized in companies and private groups who come aboard to enjoy the archipelago from the sea. And when we cruise past islets and skerries on our way to a festive dinner in a cozy cove, it is important to us that both safety and service are top notch.
Environmental ships
The ships have a strong environmental profile, and while Vega has been on several longer expeditions and representation cruises with environmental organizations, Legend is certified as an environmental lighthouse and has highlighted fjord pollution through the project “Environmental Pirates”. For several years, Vega has gone on beach clean-up cruises with school classes in Oslo.
A small, yet very large college
Åke and Martin Lindholm operate the ships on a daily basis together with sailor Odin. During the summer months, the ships are staffed by a number of seasonal sailors, waiters and steersmen.

Environmental ship Vega
Both ships have survived two world wars unscathed, and have been converted from cargo ships to sailing ships. But the fact that Legend disappeared without a trace twice, and was rediscovered several years later, is a lesser-known story.
S/S Vega was built at Ring Andersen's shipyard in Denmark in 1908, and was a "Baltic Trader" that operated on freight routes along the Swedish coast. She is a solid steel ship, and is considered to be one of the most solid vessels of her size in Norway today.
After the refit in 1999, and several extensive upgrades, Vega today appears as a great ship with very good sailing characteristics and good facilities for charter trips. She is also equipped for expeditions, and has been on several long-distance trips to both the Caribbean, Scotland and along the Norwegian coast in recent years. Vega meets the Norwegian Maritime Authority's requirements for equipment and rescue equipment.

S/S Legend
On board S/V Legend you can experience the atmosphere of old sailing ships, while the vessel is adapted to today's high demands for safety and comfort. With teak and mahogany interiors, tiled toilets and two large decks, she is a maritime experience in itself.
A great sight on the Oslofjord
Today she sails with all her rich history in the Oslo Fjord. On board – a cheerful crew and passengers. Feel free to come and visit!
