S/V Legend - a pearl on the Oslofjord

A beautiful piece of shipping history

Price: 10,900 NOK per hour excl. VAT

S/S Legend (1915)

Passengers: 40-160 (max 180)

Both the S/S Vega and the S/V Legend survived two world wars unscathed, after being converted from cargo ships to sailing ships. But the fact that the Legend disappeared without a trace twice, and was rediscovered several years later, is a lesser-known story.

On board S/V Legend you can experience the atmosphere of old sailing ships, while the vessel is adapted to today's high demands for safety and comfort. With teak and mahogany interiors, tiled toilets and two large decks, she is a maritime experience in itself.

A great sight on the Oslofjord

Today she sails with all her rich history in the Oslofjord. On board – a cheerful crew and passengers. She has plenty of seating and frolicking space both inside and outside, a large bar, and a spacious rain roof for the (usually few) wet days on the fjord. Feel free to come by for a look!

History and facts:

Legend was originally built in Schweningen in the Netherlands as a sailing cargo ship.

The ship received its first engine in 1928, and operated as a freighter in Nordic waters until around 1940. During World War II, the Legene was used by the Dutch resistance forces, before she was used again as a freighter.

In 1955, the ship was sold to Norway, and was used for both fishing and shipping along the Norwegian coast and in the waters around Iceland and Greenland.

In 1995 she was again converted back to a sailing ship, this time a brig.
